The League Urges City Officials to Act Immediately on Legislation Pending Before Gov. Jerry Brown
It is imperative that officials act without delay prior to the Governor’s Oct. 13 bill signing deadline. All 28 League-priority measures sent to Gov. Brown after the Legislature adjourned Sept. 13, are still pending action.

The Local Officials Roundtable will host an event focused on the promotion of broadband access exclusively for elected city officials on Oct. 17–18 in Sacramento.

The federal government faces a major deadline next Monday, Sept. 30, when the federal fiscal year ends. Several months of negotiations and debates over the FY 2014 appropriations bills have failed to bring Congress any closer to an agreement. It was expected that a continuing resolution (CR) would pass before Sept. 30 to delay the shutdown, but now seems less likely. Inaction will result in the federal government shutting down Oct. 1.
