Cities Stand Ready to Partner with Gov. Gavin Newsom to Address Housing and Homelessness

League of California Cities Executive Director Carolyn Coleman attended Gov. Gavin Newsom’s State of the State Address today as an invited guest. Following the speech, Coleman released the following statement:

“California cities look forward to partnering with the Governor to find realistic and effective strategies to ensure housing is available and affordable to all Californians. We also agree with the Governor that a sustainable and accountable long-term revenue source is necessary to achieve our goals to increase housing supply and address homelessness.

“The League is eager to work with the Administration in the coming months to address the housing crisis that is currently gripping our state and has been decades in the making.”

Established in 1898, the League of California Cities is a nonprofit statewide association that advocates for cities with the state and federal governments and provides education and training services to elected and appointed city officials.
