Dear California City Leaders,
It was great to see all of you in thumbnail size at last week’s first ever all virtual League of California Cities Annual Conference & Expo.
With nearly 1,600 attendees, 127 dynamic speakers, 78 exhibitors, and nearly 40 educational sessions, the conference was full of opportunities to share ideas about moving our communities forward. Our keynote speakers emphasized how the challenges we’ve faced this year can help us become stronger and more effective leaders, provided best practices for advancing equity in our communities, and highlighted the importance of communicating effectively during a crisis.
City leaders also took advantage of opportunities to connect directly with their peers and out partners. With nearly 20 business meetings, 7 regional division meetings, and 6 networking sessions, city officials from throughout the state experienced creative ways to learn from and engage with their city colleagues – all through a keyboard and computer screen.
We also celebrated the innovation in our cities and recognized the League’s achievements over the last year. Videos of our Helen Putnam award winning cities and the League “by the numbers” video that we debuted at the conference can be found on the League’s YouTube channel
. If you happened to miss a session, not to worry – those registered for the conference have access to all of the recorded sessions on the conference microsite
until April 6, 2021. If you’d like to see the sessions but weren’t able to register for the conference, a special post-conference registration
option is now available.
I hope you left last week’s Conference recharged with new ideas and knowledge to bring back to your cities. I also hope you left inspired as we move forward in our work to build safe and strong communities.
