Session Proposal Deadline Extended for the 2020 Annual Conference & Expo

March 25, 2020
In response to the many changes workplaces are making in a short amount of time to respond to the coronavirus outbreak, the League has extended the deadline for accepting Annual Conference session proposals to April 13.

Due to other conference deadlines, we do not anticipate being able to extend beyond this new date. We appreciate your commitment to delivering quality programming during a very challenging time.

The League of California Cities is seeking innovative, cutting-edge topics for its 2020 Annual Conference & Expo which is scheduled for Oct. 7-9 at the Long Beach Convention Center. Gain visibility and contribute to the advancement of your field by taking advantage of this special opportunity before April 13 at www.cacities.org/acproposal.

The League’s three-day annual conference features general sessions, workshops, and networking for city elected officials, department staff directors, and stakeholders throughout the state of California. Approximately 1,800 people are expected to attend in 2020 from all sections of city government including mayors, council members, city managers, city clerks, city attorneys, fiscal officers, and other city staff.

How to Submit
Proposals must be submitted online through the proposal form to be considered. There is a word count limit within the title and description of each proposal. Be sure to read the instructions carefully as each type of session has different requirements. For full proposal information please visit www.cacities.org/acproposal.

Submissions, non-commercial in nature, from individuals, groups, businesses or organizations, on any topic of interest are welcome. The League encourages session proposals to be creative and current in their programming and format.

Planning Survey Volunteers
Session proposals will be evaluated by a spectrum of League members through an online survey.  Evaluation is based on broad appeal to all League members, how current and timely the topic is, originality, innovativeness, interactive elements, creativity, thought/discussion provoking, evidence-based, and the avoidance of product/vendor commercialization.

Planning survey volunteers will receive an emailed packet of session descriptions with a link to the survey in early April, and will have one week to complete the survey. The survey is expected to take between three to five hours to complete, depending on how many changes are proposed to the submitted session.

Following the survey results, the League will share comments from the survey with session moderators so that they can tailor the panel to what would be most helpful to attendees.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email your name, title, and city with the subject line Annual Conference 2020 — Proposal Review to education@cacities.org

If you have any questions please send an email education@cacities.org
