Hundreds of city officials from throughout the state will be traveling to Sacramento on April 22 for the League of California Cities Legislative Action Day.
Cities will have an opportunity to meet with legislators and their staff in the Capitol to discuss the most pertinent topics affecting their cities, including priority legislative issues and the state budget. Plan to attend this educational advocacy day, as well as schedule meetings with your legislators.
is free for League members and League Partners. Pre-registration for this event remains open until April 14. The cost is $250 for non-member city staff and officials, and other companies/organizations.
The day begins with a welcome and briefing from League President and Town of Yountville Mayor John F. Dunbar, Executive Director Carolyn Coleman, and the League’s legislative advocacy team. Attendees will hear about topics including the state budget, priority legislation, and policy updates on:
- Affordable housing
- Pension reform and fiscal sustainability
- Community and disaster preparedness
- Public safety
- Other legislation of critical importance
The League is hosting a new format for the event this year by combining the morning and afternoon sessions, and a special keynote speaker will give attendees an insider’s perspective on the 2020 Legislative Session. This special opportunity is co-hosted by the League’s Latino, African-American, Asian-Pacific Islander, LGBTQ, and Women’s Caucuses. Stay tuned for more information!

Plan ahead for your attendance at the League’s Legislative Action Day! The League offers a preview webinar on April 16 from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. to learn about the key priorities to share with legislators when you meet with them during Legislative Action Day.
The League’s legislative team will discuss priority bills and legislation affecting several areas of local government that you need to successfully advocate on behalf of your city. Registration for the webinar
closes at noon on April 15. There is no cost for League members and League Partners. Non-members and others will be charged $100.
