PSA of California Mayors Premieres: “Dear California, We Will Emerge Even Stronger, Together.”

June 24, 2020
Over the last several weeks, California mayors got in front of the camera to thank residents and essential workers for their role in battling COVID-19.

Dear California, We Will Emerge Even Stronger, Together.” is a public service announcement (PSA) developed by the League of California Cities with League Partner Comcast. It hits the airwaves next week and will run on Comcast channels in more than 290 cities throughout the state.

The primary goal of the PSA is to show Californians how much their cities appreciate their efforts to slow down coronavirus transmission and encourage them to keep up the good work following public health orders while reopening. The PSA also demonstrates the commitment cities and city employees have to their residents to keep them safe and help lead in the recovery of their communities, both during and following the pandemic.

The 15 mayors featured in the PSA represent the diversity of California cities’ size and geography from the smaller northern City of Rio Dell and Town of Yountville, with populations under 5,000, to five of California’s largest cities spanning the state, including Riverside, Bakersfield, Oakland, Long Beach, and Sacramento, with populations ranging from 300,000 to a half-million.

Also thanking Californians in the video are mayors representing the medium-sized cities of Fontana, Concord, Livermore, Laguna Niguel, Santa Cruz, National City, Burlingame, and East Palo Alto. And as the nation’s most diverse state, the mayors in the PSA are a true reflection of that diversity.

Please share the two-minute version of the PSA far and wide by retweeting, sharing the League’s Facebook post, and including it on your city website. To run the PSA on your government access channels, please contact League Director of Communications and Marketing Jill Oviatt at joviatt@cacities.org for a digital file.

We want all Californians to know that cities appreciate them, are committed to protecting them, and will lead them through this difficult period.
