Start the New Year off Right by Staying Connected with the League

Newest platform offers an information exchange for rural cities

January 29, 2020
There are many different ways to stay connected with the League and exchange ideas, learn about upcoming events and key legislation, and make connections with your peers.
Communication is the key for uniting cities and projecting a stronger voice in the state Capitol to advocate on top priorities facing California cities. The League is continually evolving and expanding our means of communication. See all the different ways to connect and stay updated on current issues!

New for Rural Cities
The League’s Rural City Information Exchange is a new platform, approved by the League board of directors in June 2019, as a forum for rural cities to share challenges, ideas, and best practices specifically geared to their communities.

Sharing information is easy through the Rural City Information Exchange. There are ample opportunities for rural cities to connect with a meeting place at the League Annual Conference & Expo, quarterly conference calls, a rural city listserv, webpage, and webinars. Visit the Rural City Information Exchange webpage for updates about upcoming meetings, conference calls, webinars, and learn how to submit a webinar topic and join the listserv.
Connect Through Social Media
Social media remains a critical tool to keep California cities up to date on all the League’s news, including advocacy and educational updates, key takeaways (and photos!) from conferences and events, and a plethora of information designed to help California city officials serve their residents.
You can follow the League on: You can also connect with Western City, the League’s monthly magazine, for analyses of issues affecting local governance: Exchange Ideas and Poll your City Peers
Do ever wonder what other cities have done about a particular issue? Join a League listserv for your department and post questions, provide resources to other cities, or poll colleagues on current issues in your field. Member city officials and staff must subscribe to a listserv to become an active participant and send or receive inquiries. Review the Listserv categories and sign up for one today!
