California Supreme Court will Hear California Voting Rights Act Challenge to Santa Monica’s At-Large Elections System

In July, Cal Cities reported that an appellate court found no merit to a lawsuit challenging the City of Santa Monica’s at-large elections system under the California Voting Rights Act (CVRA). However, the plaintiffs appealed and the California Supreme Court recently agreed to review the case.

Cal Cities joins coalition letter to U.S. EPA on the Draft National Recycling Strategy

The League of California Cities (Cal Cities), the Rural County Representatives of California, and the California State Association of Counties submitted a letter to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on their Draft National Recycling Strategy, urging them to focus national efforts primarily on increasing manufacturer engagement in designing readily recyclable products and using recycled materials in those products.

New affordable housing for low-income residents in the City of Redding will soon be constructed with funding from the issuance of $36.3 million in tax-exempt and taxable multi-family affordable housing bonds through the California Statewide Communities Development Authority (CSCDA).
