will be held at the Marriott Newport Beach on June 19 – 20 and will provide an opportunity for attendees to receive updates on key policy issues, network with peers, and participate in professional development workshops. Executive Forum Sessions
The Forum begins with a special opening session from TEDx speaker Sarita Maybin on how to remain positive during difficult communication situations. Sarita is an international speaker, communication expert and author whose audiences have fun learning how to keep up the optimism in working relationships. Following the opening general session, attendees can decide between concurrent sessions on innovation, homelessness, and fair process principles. Later that evening, interact with colleagues and share what you’ve learned during the networking reception.
On Thursday, the opportunities for learning begin with a session on insightful lessons learned from the recent fires in Malibu and Santa Rosa. Listen to the personal stories of city leaders who have led their agencies and communities through these catastrophic events. Concurrent sessions throughout the day will feature best practices for achieving successful council-manager communication and will highlight case studies from partnerships that have formed that encourage the future of the local government workforce.
In the afternoon, 20-minute speed sessions are available, which are information-packed segments on different topics. Listen to dynamic speakers who will share how to challenge and inspire your residents to participate in local government, demonstrate what it means to be a high-performing city and highlight how one city took the idea of a mobile city to heart and developed a holistic strategy to increase online services and facilitate a 21st century workforce that is on the go all the time.

Three options are available for interested attendees to further their learning and fully immerse themselves in a specific topic. Registration comes with breakfast and lunch for these 6-hour workshops.

Level Up Your Leadership: Mastering Your Role as a Council Member, Community Leader and Colleague
California cities face myriad critical and emerging issues from constrained budgets, from the retirement wave, to the expanding housing and homelessness crisis. In order to navigate this, elected officials must be equipped to lead through these changing, and oftentimes challenging, times. This interactive session will provide tools and strategies to help elected officials operate more effectively as a council and better engage with fellow council members, with city staff and with the community.

taking place in June 19 – 20, registration is $375 for League-member city elected officials and staff. It includes admission to Wednesday and Thursday sessions, the Wednesday evening networking reception, and Thursday breakfast and luncheon.
For the Advanced Leadership Workshops
, registration is $195 for League-member city elected officials and staff. It includes a 6-hour workshop, breakfast and lunch on Friday, June 21.
