Submit a Session Proposal by Aug. 22 for the 2020 Planning Commissioners Academy

August 12, 2019
The League of California Cities is soliciting session proposals and speakers for the 2020 Planning Commissioners Academy, which is scheduled for March 4-6, 2020 in Sacramento.

Take this opportunity to share best practices, innovative approaches to current issues and timely topics that will benefit California’s city planning commissioners.

The Planning Commissioners Academy is a three-day conference that includes general sessions, panel discussions, speed sessions, and networking opportunities, for planning commissioners of all tenures. This conference offers a fundamentals track for new commissioners and those wanting a refresher course, as well as an emerging issues track, to include innovative solutions for current issues that California city planners and planning commissioners face.

The last conference, held in March 2019, featured sessions on a wide variety of topics including downtown innovation and revitalization, density and development, project approval, social media, relationship building, transportation, homelessness, cannabis, city finance, CEQA, emergency preparedness, leadership, and more.

Submissions, non-commercial in nature, from any individual, group, business or organization, on any topic are welcome. The Program Planning Advisory Committee will consider the educational value of each proposal and the extent to which it presents new and/or significant information.

Sessions may not include sales, commercialism or product promotion of any kind. Ideas must be submitted through the online proposal form by Thursday, Aug. 22 to be considered for the conference.

There is a limit to the amount of words allowed within the title and description of each proposal. Write your proposal in a word-processing program first and paste the final version into the online form.
