The grants are part of CAC’s 15 grant programs to strengthen the capacity of organizations providing arts engagement to all of California’s residents.
Creative California Communities
grants support meaningful, collaborative, creative placemaking projects that animate, activate and celebrate communities. Projects support community goals and encourage increased engagement in arts and cultural activities with community members. Applicants can request up to $150,000 for a two-year grant. Applications are due Jan. 9, 2019.
Creative placemaking projects use local artists, cultural resources, and/or the creative sector as central components in strategically shaping the physical and social character of a neighborhood, town, tribe, city, or region. Partnerships between public, private, nonprofit and community sectors are essential to this program.
Arts-based units of government are eligible to apply to most of the California Arts Council’s grant programs. A full listing of this year’s offerings can be found on CAC’s website
CAC will host an informational webinar on the Creative California Communities grant program on Nov. 7 at 11 a.m.
