ILG Helps Roseville Innovate with Civic Engagement

March 22, 2018
The City of Roseville is experimenting with innovative public engagement.

The city’s new video highlights a dialogue focused Community Conversation evening. More than 120 residents participated in the Feb. 26 event where 25 city staff served as facilitators. The Institute for Local Government’s Public Engagement Program led the “Engage Roseville” meeting where residents grappled with budget priorities related to police, fire, libraries and parks and could see aggregate opinions real-time through instant polling. One participant summed up the evening saying, “I’m much more opinionated than I am informed.” The Community Conversation event is just one piece of Roseville’s engagement effort.
