Time to Submit Session Proposals for the 2019 Planning Commissioners Academy

Submit Ideas by Aug. 20

July 9, 2018
The League of California Cities® is soliciting session proposals and speakers for the 2019 Planning Commissioner’s Academy, which is scheduled for March 6-8 in Long Beach.
The call for proposals is an opportunity to share best practices, innovative approaches, as well as research and information with California planning commissioners and planners at their annual gathering.
This three-day conference includes general sessions, workshops, and networking, offers a fundamentals track for new commissioners, and an emerging issues track on topics for more seasoned professionals. For 2019, planners would like sessions to focus on topics that include homelessness solutions, housing, community engagement and leadership in challenging times.
The last conference, held in April 2018, featured a wide range of sessions on a wide variety of topics including city finance, CEQA, general plans, planning acronyms, infill, design guidelines, and more. For more information, or to get a copy of last year’s program, please contact Caitlin Cole.
Submissions, non-commercial in nature, from any individual, group, business or organization, on any topic are welcome. The Program Planning Advisory Committee will consider the educational value of each proposal and the extent to which it presents new and/or significant information.
Sessions may not include sales, commercialism or product promotion of any kind. Submit complete proposals through the online proposal form by Monday, Aug. 20 to be considered by the committee.
There is a limit to the amount of words allowed within the title and description of each proposal. Session proposals should be drafted in a word-processing program, and then pasted into the online form.
