In keeping with his emphasis on fiscal responsibility, the Governor urged careful and strong stewardship of municipal resources.

League President Rich Garbarino thanked the Governor for his leadership on a number of issues including championing transportation funding and his commitment to fighting any attempt to repeal it. The Governor also recognized the complexities of issues at the local level and in reminiscing about his tenure as Oakland mayor, he remarked that things may be more difficult for today’s city leaders.
