This opportunity to learn about a unique public-private partnership has been added to the great line-up of sessions and networking opportunities being offered this year.
Walking Tour of the New Long Beach Civic Center Project
Spend the morning before the conference touring the New Long Beach Civic Center Project and learn all about this unique public-private partnership (P3) in the heart of Long Beach’s downtown. Just a few blocks from the Convention Center, this $520 million, design-build-finance-operate-maintain (DBFOM) civic center will replace the old city hall and provide new offices for the Port of Long Beach, a new city library, a retail marketplace, and an upgraded public park that will serve residents and visitors of Long Beach for years to come. This is only the second DBFOM project in California for a set of buildings, and the first time the delivery model is being used by a city. Hear about the project details from representatives of the city of Long Beach
and developer Plenary Group
The walking tour will leave promptly at 9 a.m. from the Long Beach Convention Center. After a short walk to City Hall, the city manager will provide a brief introduction. The group will then walk across the street to the new Civic Center site and get a look at the various elements of this project. Bring shoes suitable for walking; the group will not need to enter the active construction portions of the site.
