California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) Schedules Teleconference Meeting to Review Draft Sunset Report to the Legislature

November 23, 2015
When the 2014 Legislature enacted AB 1147, it directed the California Massage Therapy Council (CAMTC) to submit a report to the Legislature on or before June 1, 2016 that reports on the activities of the council in a number of specific areas and to assess the feasibility of licensure for the massage profession.
A draft of the report is due Dec. 8 to the Business and Professions Committees of the Senate and the Assembly, and the CAMTC Board of Directors will review the draft report at a special teleconference meeting on Thursday, Dec. 3 beginning at 9:30 a.m.

In addition to the feasibility report on licensing, the sunset report is supposed to contain information on its compensation guidelines and salary levels; status in revising its school approval process; and performance metrics on certificate suspensions, school inspections and disapprovals, processing of complaints, etc. (see B & P Code Sec. 4620 for more details).
The California Massage Therapy Act (B & P Code Secs. 4600 – 4621) sunsets (or expires) on Jan. 1, 2017 unless extended by the Legislature.
Here is the agenda for the teleconference meeting of the CAMTC Board of Directors and how you can connect if interested:
