Election will determine state and public agency representatives in 2015

August 29, 2014
The California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) will open the Board of Administration election for the state and public agency member representative positions on Aug. 29.
The new term of office for both positions will begin on Jan. 16, 2015, and run through Jan. 15, 2019.

To inform voters, CalPERS will also host a Candidate Forum to provide candidates the opportunity to deliver remarks and answer questions from the audience. The forum will be sponsored and moderated by the League of Women Voters of Sacramento County on Tuesday, Sept. 16, from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. at CalPERS Headquarters Auditorium located at 400 P Street, Sacramento. A live webcast of the event will be available for those who are unable to attend in person and a copy of the webcast will be archived online afterwards.
The candidates for the state member position are:
  • David Miller
  • Theresa L. Taylor
  • Iqbal S. Badwalz
The candidates for the public agency member position are:
  • Leyne Milstein
  • Priya Sara Mathur (incumbent)
Ballots mailed to eligible, active state and public agency CalPERS members must be received by Sept. 29, to be counted. In the event that no candidate receives a majority of votes (50 percent of votes cast plus one), a runoff election will be held between the top two candidates beginning Nov. 7. Final results of the runoff election will be determined beginning Dec. 8.
