The League’s 2013 Hot Bills List has been updated to reflect the current status of bills of most importance to cities following the May 31 House of Origin deadline. Several bills have been removed from the original list because they were stopped or are not expected to move this year; others have been added. The list below reflects the League’s Hot Bills as of June 4, 2013.

Conference Committee Discusses and Keeps Item “Open”
Budget trailer bill language, including details of the Governor’s economic development proposals, which contemplates a phase-out of the Enterprise Zone (EZ) program, was released late Monday.

Speaker John Pérez (D-Los Angeles) announced on Tuesday, May 28, the appointment of Assembly Member Ed Chau (D-Monterey Park) as chair of the Housing and Community Development (HCD) Committee. Many bills of importance to California cities go through this committee.
