Bills in Committee July 10 – 18

This upcoming week will be very busy in the Capitol with dozens of bills the League is tracking scheduled in committee. Things will slow down though with the upcoming summer legislative break when both houses adjourn on July 21. The final weeks of this session begin Aug. 21 and then the Legislature will have a few weeks to conclude its work before it adjourns the session on Sept. 15.

Summer Recess/End of Session Legislative Briefing Scheduled for July 20

Join the League’s Legislative team for a briefing on major bills that cities need to advocate for and against when the Legislature returns from its summer recess (July 21 – Aug. 21). The webinar is scheduled for July 20 from 1:30 – 3 p.m.

League Board Will Consider Endorsements for NLC Board and NLC Second Vice President Positions

Each year the League of California Cities® board of directors invites membership interested in running for National League of Cities (NLC) board of directors or for second vice president of the NLC board of directors, to apply for endorsement from our League board of directors. Only city officials in direct member cities of NLC may apply for its board or board officer position (second vice president). The League board will endorse all membership interested in applying for NLC board, but only one member interested in applying for NLC second vice president.

FPPC Offices to Move Later this Month

The Fair Practices Political Practices Commission (FPPC) will be moving on July 21 with the office reopening for business on Monday, July 24.
