DOF Releases List of 2016-17 Suspended Mandates

The Department of Finance (DOF) on June 28 issued its list of state mandates suspended in the 2016 Budget Act for FY 2016-17. This list remains unchanged from FY 2015-16.

League-Sponsored Bill to Strengthen Community Revitalization and Investment Tool to Facilitate Economic Development Heads to the Senate Floor for Approval

AB 2492 Clean-up to Last Year’s AB 2

League-sponsored AB 2492 (Alejo and E. Garcia), to strengthen aspects of the community revitalization and investment tool to facilitate economic development has been approved by the Assembly and relevant Senate committees. The bill awaits final approval in the Senate, followed by a concurrence vote in the Assembly, before going to Gov. Jerry Brown.

Final Payment for Triple-Flip Unwind Scheduled for July 7

The California Department of Finance (DOF) completed the calculations of final payments to cities and counties under the sales and use tax triple flip. The state will allocate funds to counties on July 7. The State Controller will transfer the scheduled amounts to counties for deposit in the county Sales and Use Tax Compensation Fund. Counties then have 60 days to allocate DOF stipulated amounts to the county and each city in the county per a provided schedule.
