It’s time to submit your city’s innovative program and compete for statewide recognition. Each year the League of California Cities® honors outstanding work in member cities across the state through the League Partner-sponsored Helen Putnam Awards for Excellence.

League-Sponsored Bond Agency Issues $5.6 Million in Tax-Exempt Bonds for APP Hayward Jet Center

Some of the most significant benefits of League membership for cities since 1988 have flowed from the League’s co-sponsorship of the California Statewide Communities Development Authority (CSCDA). This program provides a variety of public agencies and developers access to low-cost, tax-exempt financing and economic development tools. CSCDA recently issued $5,600,000 in tax-exempt bonds for the APP Jet Center (APP) in Hayward.

There will be no on-site registration for the League’s annual Planning Commissioners Academy. Set for March 2-4 in San Ramon, the conference has sold out and built up a substantial waiting list.

Applications for Strengthening Law Enforcement and Community Relations Grants due April 1

The Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) has released a Request for Proposals for a new grant program called “Strengthening Law Enforcement and Community Relations.” Municipal police departments and cities that contract for law enforcement services are among the eligible applicants. Please forward the following information to your members.
