Your privacy is of great importance to us and our Web site has been developed with that in mind. We recognize your right to know what information is being collected about you and how that information will be used, as well as our legal obligations to limit collection and protect what we do collect.
If you do nothing during your visit but browse through the Web site, read pages, or download information, we will gather and store certain information about your visit automatically. This information does not identify you personally. We automatically collect and store only the following information about your visit:
We use this information to help us make our site more useful to visitors - to learn about the number of visitors to the different sections of our site, what information is of greatest interest, and technical information that will enhance ease of use, such as, the types of technology our visitors use and system performance or problem areas. We do not track or record information about individuals and their visits. Electronic Mail and On-line Forms Many of our Web pages allow you to send us an e-mail. If your e-mail message includes personally-identifying information, for example, in an electronic mail message containing an inquiry, we will use that information to respond to your inquiry. Sometimes we may forward your e-mail to a different entity that may be better able to help you. In addition, the League may use your information to send you follow-up information about products and services in which you have expressed an interest. Remember that e-mail is not necessarily secure against interception. If your communication is very sensitive, or includes information such as your bank account, charge card, or social security number, you should send it by mail unless our Web site indicates the particular site is secured. Electronic Commerce Precautions Some of our Web pages allow you to purchase products and services or request information electronically. In those instances, we will collect the information needed to fulfill your order or request, just as though your order or request had been made on paper. That information will be maintained and protected in accordance with the Privacy Act, 5 U.S.C. 552a, which means that it will be secured in transit to us and once received. The League will not share this information with third parties other than necessary to fulfill your order; comply with the law or legal process served on the League or the League website; protect and defend the rights, interests or property of the League, its respective employees, marketing partners, agents or third parties; or to protect the personal safety of League members or members of the public in general. Online Surveys From time to time, the League of California Cities may conduct online surveys that ask you for demographic data. The League of California Cities or its agents may also contact you by telephone with the option to participate in other member research studies. Participation in any survey or other consumer research is always voluntary. The League of California Cities aggregates the responses we receive before using the information to improve the information, products and services we offer. We do not link your individual responses to your personal information at any time. Member Communications We occasionally send mail and e-mail communications to our members to let them know about new programs, products, and special offers. You have the option whether or not to receive these e-mails by specifying your preference during registration or by contacting the League.
