A new survey of more than 1400 public officials and local community leaders in California reveals both groups feel that public comment agendas are dominated by narrow interests and negative remarks.

Since 2005, as required by AB 1234, public officials are required to attend ethics training. Public officials are required to complete the training within one year of taking office, and repeat the training every two years. The Institute for Local Government (ILG) is offering a session at the Association of Bay Area Governments' (ABAG) 2012 Ethics Training Workshop on Dec. 20 in Oakland.
