URGENT ACTION REQUESTED: Inform your legislators of the overwhelming challenges your city has faced with the redevelopment dissolution process and ask them to reject the Department of Finance’s (DOF) redevelopment budget trailer bill and use AB 1585 (Pérez), SB 986 (Dutton) and SB 1335 (Pavley) as a more positive starting point for redevelopment-related budget discussions and future state-local economic development efforts.

The California Department of Finance (DOF) just issued three new guidance documents to address the growing list of questions that have arisen concerning the implementation of the redevelopment agency dissolution legislation, AB x1 26. The three guidance documents are marked with a red NEW and can be found on the department’s website.

On Thursday, AB 1692 (Wieckowski), a surprising attempt to unravel last year’s AB 506 (Wieckowski), was pulled from the Assembly Appropriations Committee and sent to the Assembly floor. It could be heard as early as Monday, May 14. City officials are strongly encouraged to send opposition letters immediately.

The League opposes AB 1549 (Gatto), which would outline additional responsibilities for the Office of Permit Assistance and require the office to provide technical assistance to local agencies by developing guidelines for an expedited permit process.
