Revised City and County Transportation Funding Estimates Now Available

May 31, 2018
In late May, the California Department of Finance released new estimates of shared revenues in tandem with Gov. Jerry Brown's May Budget Revise for FY 2018–19.

The California Local Government Finance Almanac has updated its estimates of city and county streets and roads allocations for this fiscal year and the one that begins July 1 using the revised estimates of local transportation revenues, including from the Highway Users Tax Account (HUTA) and the SB1 Road Maintenance and Rehabilitation Account.

Of particular note, HUTA Section 2103 variable gas tax revenue estimates for FY 201819 have been revised downward from January. This is due to the failure in February of the state Board of Equalization to enact a 4 cent increase as recommended by staff and anticipated in the January estimates. The revised Local Streets and Roads revenue estimates are included in this report along with more detailed explanations.
