Webinar Announcement: The Rise of Vacation/Short-Term Residential Rentals and What Cities Are Doing About It

January 27, 2015
The League of California Cities invites city officials to attend an informational webinar presentation on the emerging issue of vacation or short-term rentals in residential neighborhoods scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 10-11:30 a.m.

Due to high member interest, the League recently formed a working group on the issue of vacation or short-term residential rentals. The group has held several conference calls to discuss the impacts cities have experienced resulting from the increased popularity of these rentals in residential neighborhoods, and related issues such as the effective collection of city transient occupancy tax.

During the webinar, member cities will hear from Betsy Strauss, League special counsel, regarding the latest legal developments and tools available to cities as they navigate the home-sharing arena, including example ordinances and policy guidelines as well as alternatives for enforcement.

Additional speakers include:
  • Michael Barrett, city attorney, Napa
  • Christi Hogin, city attorney, Malibu, Lomita and Palos Verdes Estates
  • Andrea Visveshwara, assistant city attorney, Petaluma
Participants will also be able to ask questions following the presentation.

This webinar is for League member cities and League Partners only. Please remember there is only one connection per city or partner.

Please register online for the webinar 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

For questions on how to register for the webinar, please contact Megan Dunn. For all other questions, please contact Lauren Kimzey
