Gov. Jerry Brown Delivers Fourth Inaugural Address with Annual State of State

Delivering his fourth inaugural address to a packed California Assembly Chambers, Gov. Jerry Brown was sworn-in for his final term as the state’s 39th Governor this morning.
 
He took the opportunity to also deliver his annual State of the State speech.

During his remarks, the Governor outlined several proposals for the coming legislative session ranging from climate change to sentencing reform. He painted a rosy picture of the state’s finances, yet cautioned that more work needs to be done in order to ensure California’s future financial stability and economic advancement. The Governor also revealed that the state will “repay a billion dollars borrowed from schools and community colleges and another $533 million owed to local governments.”

The 2015-16 Budget
