Due to the large volume of enrolled dependents in the program, verification is occurring over nine cycles. To date, three verification cycles have been completed, and two are currently in progress. The first five cycles focused on state actives and retirees. The remaining cycles will include public agencies and school districts.
Cycle 6, one of two cycles for active public agency employees, will begin on Monday, June 2. If your agency’s active members do not receive a letter in early June from HMS (the vendor CalPERS is using for this project), it likely means they are part of Cycle 7, which will begin on Aug. 1. Retired public agency employees can expect to receive their verification letter the first week of October.
You Can Help
Cities are encouraged to help employees prepare for verification by encouraging them to start planning and gathering supporting documentation to validate their dependents’ eligibility. CalPERS has set up a helpful web page
with information on what documents are acceptable for verification, FAQ and more.
