Local Coastal Program Grant Application Deadline July 7

June 12, 2014
The deadline to apply for the California Coastal Commission’s Local Coastal Program (LCP) grant funding is less than a month away.

Grants support local governments planning for sea-level rise and climate change, and developing new or updating existing Local Coastal Programs (LCP), consistent with the California Coastal Act. Applications are due July 7 at 5 p.m.

Funding is available through two coordinated grant programs:
  • California Coastal Commission LCP Planning Assistance Grant Program: $1 million available for updating and certifying LCPs; may include updates to address impacts of climate change and sea-level rise.
  • Ocean Protection Council LCP Sea-Level Rise Grant Program: $1.2 million available for work that supports LCP updates specifically to address sea-level rise, including sea-level rise modeling, vulnerability assessments, and adaptation planning and policy development.
Detailed information and application instructions are available online as well as the frequently asked questions.

Applicants are encouraged to review instructions carefully and discuss proposal ideas with Coastal Commission district staff.

For more information please contact Statewide LCP Grant Coordinator Hilary Papendick at (415) 904-5294 for the Coastal Commission LCP Planning Assistance Grant Program, and California Ocean Protection Council staff member Abe Doherty for the OPC SLR Grant Program.
