Webinar Scheduled for July 22 on the Film and Television Business and its Impact on the California Economy

July 14, 2014
The League is hosting a free webinar on Tuesday, July 22 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. on the pivotal role the California film industry plays in the state’s overall economy as well as a proposed legislative measure that could provide a necessary financial boost to the industry.

Background

California cities are still recovering from the economic downturn and are eagerly searching out any additional tools to help bolster their local economy. AB 1839 (Gatto/Bocanegra) would incentivize television and film production in California cities through a film tax credit. Many California cities have prime locations for feature films, television shows, music videos, and commercials; nevertheless in many cases, film producers are taking their business out of state. The film industry has the potential to infuse millions in tax revenues through local business and restaurant sales and through the employment of locals such as contractors and crew members.

Registration

Register at www.cacities.org/events by noon on Monday, July 21. Webinar log-in information will be sent the afternoon of July 21.
