DTSC will hold two public meetings focused on transportation options. The first will be held on Aug. 7 and the second to be held on Aug. 9. DTSC has initiated a study of transportation options for soil removal during future clean-up activities at SSFL. This study will be used to identify the transportation options to be addressed in the Draft Program Environmental Impact Report. DTSC will provide information about the purpose of the study and will ask attendees for input on alternative transportation options to be considered in the study. The Aug. 7 meeting will be held from 6-9 p.m. at the Simi Valley Senior Center Multi-purpose Room, 3900 Avenida Simi in Simi Valley. Contact: Marina Perez at (818) 717-6569.
 
Public Workshop: Development of Model Groundwater Monitoring Criteria in Areas of Oil and Gas Production

The State Water Board will hold a public workshop to receive public comments. The meeting will be led by State Water Board staff. A quorum of State Water Board members may be in attendance; however no board action will be taken at this meeting.
 
The State Water Board is commencing the public stakeholder process as specified in SB 4 (Pavley, Statutes of 2013) to develop model groundwater monitoring criteria (model criteria) in relation to oil and gas wells subject to well stimulation treatments. The model criteria will address a range of methods from monitoring on individual wells to conducting a regional groundwater monitoring program. The purpose of this meeting is to gather stakeholder and public perspectives, ideas, and concerns regarding the potential effects of oil and gas related activities on groundwater quality in order to develop the model criteria.
