The Act allows cities to obtain a temporary restraining order and permanent injunction against any person who has threatened or committed a violent act against a city employee while at work.
The speakers will discuss the investigation of an alleged violent act or threat in the workplace, the collection of evidence needed, and next steps after an injunction is issued. The presentation will also discuss relevant constitutional issues and touch on a city’s general obligation to provide a safe workplace.
Attendees will receive a background paper with sample forms for practical application.
