New Brownfield Development Tool for Cities Webinar Scheduled Early March

Free for League Members and Partners

February 19, 2014
AB 440 (Gatto, 2013) will help local agencies investigate and clean up property for development. Learn more about this new authority and what it may mean for your city in a League-sponsored webinar on March 6 from 10:00–11:15 a.m.
Presenters include:
  • Katerina Robinson, senior legislative aide for Assembly Member Gatto (D-Los Angeles), the author, will discuss the legislative context for AB 440. What problem was the author addressing? How does AB 440 assist with the problem of brownfield cleanup?
  • Leah Goldberg, San Jose deputy city attorney, helped draft AB 440 while in private practice and continues to monitor its implementation. She will discuss the nuts and bolts of this new tool and explain how its authority can be used in former redevelopment areas and by cities in areas not formerly within redevelopment areas.
  • Bret Stone, Palladin Law Group, will offer ideas to help cities get ready to use this tool.
  • State Department of Toxic Substances Control (invited) will discuss the state implementation role, state contacts and funding opportunities.
Community and economic development staff and city attorneys will find this particularly informative. Join us and learn what AB 440 may mean for your city.
This webinar is free for League members and partners; $100 for non-members. Register at www.cacities.org/events by noon on Monday, March 3. Webinar log-in information and background materials will be sent March 5. For registration questions, contact Megan Dunn.
