Let Us Know if Your City Uses Social Media

Social Media by City List on the League Website

October 11, 2013
Cities are using innovation to grow in many ways, including by connecting with residents through social media.
The League maintains a social media list by city on the League website on the  Social Media Resources webpage. This list contains city or city department names with links to their known Twitter and Facebook accounts.
If your city has a Facebook, Twitter or YouTube account and it isn’t on the list, please contact Adrienne Sprenger at (916) 658-8278.
The Social Media Resources page also features:
  • Links to PowerPoint presentations for Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn (cover basics, signing up, and how cities can use each tool)
  • Best practices for individuals and cities
  • Social media sample policies
  • Social media and mobile information
  • Whitepaper from the Institute for Local Government: Legal Issues Associated with Social Media
League Social Media
The League actively uses social media to keep members informed about legislative developments, court decisions affecting cities, events and much more.
Twitter users can follow @CaCities for League news, press releases, policy committee updates, professional department updates, sample letters and letter requests, and items related to our issue areas. Additionally, follow @WesternCityMag for Western City issue updates, job opportunities and information; and @CaCitiesLearn for conference, event, and training specific news and updates.
The League and its magazine, Western City, also have Facebook fan pages.
