Committee Passes Community Revitalization Measure Restoring Narrow RDA Authority

June 21, 2013
AB 1080 (Alejo) passed the Senate Governance and Finance Committee Wednesday and now heads to the Senate Committee on Transportation and Housing.

Supported by the League, the bill allows local governments to establish individual Community Revitalization and Investment Authorities (CRIA) for the purposes of improving low-income and disadvantaged communities. Upon establishing CRIAs and identifying revitalization investment areas in accordance with the bill’s specifications, local governments can use property tax increment revenues to fund community development plans.

The League encourages city officials to submit letters of support to Senate Transportation and Housing Committee members before the bill is heard. More information on AB 1080 as well as a sample support letter is available online.
