Cities for Workforce Health July 31 Deadline Approaching

July 18, 2013
As part of Tier 3 of the Cities for Workforce Health initiative, up to five California cities will be selected to receive one-on-one consultation and a $5,000 credit towards wellness programming through Kaiser Permanente HealthWorks.
The Cities for Workforce Health Program is sponsored by the League Partner Program of the League of California Cities, including Kaiser Permanente, Keenan & Associates, Inc. and the Healthy Eating Active Living (HEAL) Cities Campaign. The objective is to engage League cities and their employees in building a culture of enhanced health and productivity. By providing the tools necessary to create a healthier workforce, cities will not only see improved employee productivity, but lower employee turnover and a better safety record.
To be eligible for the $5,000 credit, cities must first join the HEAL Cities Campaign and designate a lead staffer for the city’s worksite wellness efforts. Information about how to join the HEAL Cities Campaign is available online.
Selected cities will receive 30 hours of consultations service over a one year period beginning October 2013. Consultation services include:
  • Onsite biometric screenings, health education classes and flu shots
  • Online Total Health Assessment and Healthy Lifestyle Programs
  • Thrive Across America — online physical activity program
  • Mix It Up — online nutrition program
  • Communication materials for the above programs
This is a great opportunity for cities to receive specialized training from one of the League’s esteemed partners. Information on requirements and program specifications is available online. Apply online. Applications must be submitted by July 31.
The final five Tier 3 cities will be selected and notified in early September and announced at the League Annual Conference, Sept. 18–20.
