Assembly Subcommittee Schedules Hearing on Department of Finance’s Handling of Redevelopment Dissolution on Feb 11

City Officials Encouraged to Share Experiences and Issues With Legislators

Next Monday, Feb. 11, the Assembly Budget Subcommittee #6 on Budget Process, Oversight and Program Evaluation will hold an informational hearing on redevelopment dissolution issues per AB 26x1 and AB 1484. Representatives have been invited from the Department of Finance to provide an overview of its activities, and a representative from the State Controller’s Office. The hearing will be held at 2:30 p.m. in State Capitol Room 126.

 

While the committee may hold future meetings on this topic, no other stakeholders have been invited to participate in the Feb. 11 hearing, but public comment will be allowed for other perspectives.

Cities with successor agencies that are represented by the legislators on the committee are encouraged to do the following:

  1. Contact your legislator’s office an inform them of your community’s experience with the dissolution process.
  2. Provide them with supporting information on local projects and issues, including any specific questions they should ask the Department.
  3. Offer to brief them in their district office this Thursday or Friday, prior to the Monday hearing. City officials that elect to also attend the hearing should anticipate that they will be given a very limited time to speak, and to condense their remarks into several key points.
