Massage Regulation Webinar Scheduled Jan. 16

December 20, 2013
The League invites members to participate in a free webinar on Thursday, Jan. 16 on SB 731 (Oropeza), the 2008 legislation that crated voluntary certification for massage therapists.
SB 731 created some negative effects on cities including the overconcentration of establishments, human trafficking, prostitution, and the inability of local jurisdictions to regulate the industry. The bill is set to sunset Jan. 1, 2015. The coming year provides an opportunity for cities to consider and help shape future policies.

For more information about SB 731, please see “Opportunity for Cities to Help Shape Massage Establishment Regulatory Policy,” CA Cities Advocate, Nov. 20, 2013.
The webinar will be held Jan. 16 from 10:00–11:30 a.m.
Register at www.cacities.org/events by noon on Monday, Jan. 13. One connection per city please. Webinar log-in information will be sent by 5 p.m. on Jan. 15.
For registration questions, contact Megan Dunn.
