Bills in Committee Aug. 12–16

August 12, 2013
The full Legislature is back in Sacramento this week following the return of the Senate today. Legislators are now entering the final leg of the 2013 session and are expected to act on hundreds of remaining bills before the Sept. 13 deadline.

In what’s become a customary tradition of sorts, expect to see several high profile gut-and-amends during the final moments of session. Watch for amendments to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), efforts to negotiate changes to the water bond, a workers’ compensation funding proposal and the possible introduction of legislation increasing the current $250,000 cap on pain and suffering damages in medical malpractice lawsuits.
