Meeting in joint session Nov. 15 – 16 in Sacramento, the officers and directors of the divisions, departments, diversity caucuses, policy committees and board of directors of the League of California Cities adopted the following strategic goals for 2013.

Yesterday, the League Strategic Initiatives Task Force met for the first time at the League offices to consider a variety of policy and advocacy alternatives the organization could discuss with its membership over the next few months in order to secure a greater measure of home rule in the future.

This morning, Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB 340 (Furutani), the League-supported pension reform legislation passed by the Legislature with large margins on the last night of session.

The deadline for voting delegate forms for the League’s Annual Business Meeting at the League’s Annual Conference & Expo in San Diego is approaching soon.

Policy development is an integral part of the League’s Annual Conference & Expo. While the principal means for determining League policy is through the League’s eight standing policy committees and the League board of directors, we also accept Annual Conference Resolutions, which should address areas not already covered by League policy.
