The California Energy Commission (CEC) has announced that California cities are now eligible for new 1 percent interest rate loan funds for energy efficiency and generation projects. More than $22 million in funding from the Energy Conservation Assistance Account (ECAA) is available. CEC is accepting loan applications on a first-come, first-served basis.

Every year the League holds its annual conference logo design contest. The League’s 2013 Annual Conference & Expo will be held in Sacramento on Sept. 18-20. The winning entry will be selected in November.

On Oct. 19, CalRecycle announced the launch of California’s Paint Take-Back and Recycling program, which was mandated under AB 1343 (2010) requiring architectural paint manufacturers to set up and administer a system to properly manage leftover paint.

On Sept. 24, the League of California Cities filed a complaint against the state and other defendants, challenging AB 1484, the redevelopment budget trailer bill. The lawsuit was filed in Sacramento Superior Court and has been assigned to Judge Michael Kenney.

Yesterday, the League Strategic Initiatives Task Force met for the first time at the League offices to consider a variety of policy and advocacy alternatives the organization could discuss with its membership over the next few months in order to secure a greater measure of home rule in the future.
