Department of Conservation to Host Scoping Workshop Related to SB 618

May 11, 2012

The Department of Conservation, Division of Land Resource Protection (DLRP) will host a scoping workshop on May 18 to discuss the possible adoption of regulations needed to implement provisions of SB 618, a solar-use easement bill passed last year.

SB 618 authorizes parties to a Williamson Act contract, under specific circumstances, after approval by the Department of Conservation and in consultation with the Department of Food and Agriculture, to mutually agree to rescind the contract in order to simultaneously enter into a solar-use easement. In most cases, the easement will require that the land be used for solar photovoltaic facilities for a term no less than 20 years.

Workshop Details

May 18, 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
California Natural Resources Agency Auditorium
1416 9th Street

The workshop is designed to increase public participation and improve the quality of regulations that will guide implementation of the legislation. The full meeting announcement is available on the Department of Conservation website.
