AB 1050 Conference Call Set for Wednesday, Aug. 1

Member-Only Call Will Give Chance for Feedback on Final Bill Proposal

July 30, 2012

Join League staff for a discussion on AB 1050 (Ma), a bill that proposes to provide for a uniform collection of local and state taxes from consumers of prepaid communication services.

Two years of active negotiations are coming to an end. This conference call is open to League members only and is an opportunity for impacted cities to be briefed on the final proposal and provide feedback.

Prepaid communication services are those which the consumer pay for services (i.e. minutes) on a pay-as-you-go basis. These include prepaid phones, phone cards, and online purchases of minutes for prepaid phones. Due to the nature of prepaid communication services, it is difficult to track and collect the appropriate taxes.
