FPPC to Hold Interested Persons Meeting on Conflict of Interest Regulations on Feb. 2

January 31, 2012
Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) is hosting an interested persons meeting on Thursday, Feb. 2 to solicit public comment on improvements to the conflict of interest regulations under the Political Reform Act.

FPPC staff has identified several areas that it will be examining including:

  • The 500 foot rule for real property, developing a materiality standard for real property that is not directly involved in a decision but where there are sufficient factors to rebut the presumption of nonmateriality;
  • Clarifying what is "reasonably foreseeable" under Step 6; and
  • Simplification of the public generally analysis.

Additionally, staff is soliciting suggestions for improvement to all aspects of the conflict of interest regulations under the Political Reform Act.
