SB 214 Passed in Assembly Local Government Committee

August 24, 2012

This week, SB 214 (Wolk) was passed in the Assembly Local Government Committee.

The bill seeks to make changes to the existing Infrastructure Financing Districts Law, which has been underutilized due to complicated requirements. The bill is now headed to the Assembly floor and is expected to be voted on next week.

SB 214 removes the existing vote thresholds, authorizes rehabilitation and maintenance, and makes numerous other changes focused on making the tool more flexible. The author amended the bill to incorporate many amendments proposed by the League designed to make the bill more workable.

The Assembly Local Government Committee analysis of SB 214 is available online.
