League’s Post-Redevelopment Working Group to Review Controller’s Letter on Transfer of Assets Request

April 26, 2012

The State Controller sent a letter to cities and counties earlier this week, ordering them to transfer assets to successor agencies that cities or counties may have received from their redevelopment agencies after Jan. 1, 2011. The extensiveness of this requirement has raised a number of questions from many local officials.

As a result, the League’s City Attorneys’ Department Post-Redevelopment Working Group, which consists of 20 city and redevelopment attorneys, will be reviewing the letter this Friday, and will provide the League and cities guidance on responding to the letter.

The working group has already issued Q and A documents about various aspects of the dissolution process which can be found on the League’s Redevelopment Dissolution Resources and Information webpage.
