Bills in Committee: April 23 – 27

April 23, 2012

It’s going to be very busy in the Capitol this week with the Legislature set to hear 665 bills in various committees by Thursday.

Also, starting Wednesday, the League will host its annual Legislative Action Days where attendees will be briefed on breaking legislative developments that will affect cities. Attendees will also have opportunities to meet with legislators.

Topics for Legislative Action Days will be centered on the state budget, the recent dissolution of redevelopment agencies and potential new economic development tools, pension reform, enterprise zones, and other emerging legislative issues, updates from legislators, and hot topics headed for the November ballot.

In addition to Legislative Actions Days, the League will also be tracking a number of bills. Following is a list of legislation scheduled for hearing this week for which the League currently has a position. City officials should watch for action alerts on priority bills.

Many legislative hearings are available online for video or audio monitoring online via the Cal Channel,  and the Senate or the Assembly websites. A full listing of all Senate and Assembly hearings is available online. Hearing times are subject to change.
