Former League Board Member Richard Dixon Dies

Sadly, Richard Dixon, who served on the League's board of directors from 2005-2010, died on Friday, Nov. 25 at the age of 63. Dixon was one of the city of Lake Forest's first council members in 1991. During his tenure on the Lake Forest City Council, he served as mayor pro tem in 1994, 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2005 and as mayor in 1995, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007. His memorial service will be held today, Friday, Dec. 9.
 

Dixon was an active member of the League, serving as the Orange County Division president (2000-2001), Orange County Division director, chair (2007) and vice chair (2006) of the Revenue and Taxation Policy Committee as well as the League's Tribal and City Governments Collaborative (2007-2010).

He was also active in the successful 2004 Proposition 1A and the 2010 Prop. 22 campaigns, which both amended the California Constitutional to protect cities from continual state raids of city coffers.
