Deadline to Register is Jan. 6 for City Managers’ Department Meeting and Apply for Department Awards

The registration and housing deadline for the City Managers’ Department Meeting, scheduled Feb. 1 – 3 in Indian Wells, is Jan. 6, 2012.

 

 

Additionally, the deadline to apply for department awards has been extended to correspond with the conference registration deadline. Don’t wait to register for this conference or apply for awards or you might miss out on this great educational opportunity.

Awards Information

The deadline to submit your application for any of the three City Managers’ Department awards honoring distinguished members of the department has been extended. Applications for all three awards are now due Friday, Jan. 6.

John H. Nail Memorial Award

The John H. Nail Memorial Award was created by the League’s City Managers’ Department during the 1978 Annual Spring Conference, in honor and memory of a highly regarded city manager and individual. The award is presented annually to an outstanding municipal assistant who has contributed significantly to his or her city government and to the advancement of the community as a whole.

Award for the Advancement of Diverse Communities

The League’s City Managers’ Department established a Committee on Diverse Communities to provide California communities the necessary resources and tools to help increase acceptance of our diversity and become more open, accessible, and inclusive. The committee focuses on diversity within California, both inside and outside city organizations.

The Award for Advancement of Diverse Communities honors a city manager or assistant who has been most successful in promoting the advancement of diversity within the community and the workplace through the development and implementation of effective programs, policies and/or practices encouraging diversity. 

The award for the Advancement of Diverse Communities has been posted to the League’s website.

Wes McClure Award Honoring a City Manager of Distinction

The Wes McClure Award of Distinction recognizes the values and principles deemed essential to city managers’ professional conduct. This award is an opportunity to recognize a city manager’s outstanding career service, leadership, ethics, expertise and innovation in the field of city management as observed by their colleagues. The award is given to recognize those who make a difference to the profession.

The Wes McClure Award Honoring a City Manager of Distinction has been posted to the League’s website.
