Governor Calls Special Session on Transportation during Budget Agreement News Conference

Less than 24 hours after the Legislature passed a partial FY 2015-16 budget package that contained $749 million in spending above Gov. Jerry Brown’s proposal, the two sides finally reached a deal. Taking to the podium at 1:30 p.m. today, Governor Brown outlined the agreed upon $115.4 billion General Fund spending plan for the fiscal year that begins on July 1. The Governor also called two special sessions on targeted fees and taxes related to transportation and health care. This action allows lawmakers additional time to focus on these crucial issues outside of the constitutional budget deadlines.
